It allows you to travel anywhere and affords you all lawful aid and protection. How do you get a passport?Þ You need two passport photographs from an accepted agent Þ A copy of you birth certificate Þ A valid form of photo identification such as a driver license Þ Pay a fee of $60 if 16 years old or older and $40 if younger How long does it take?It takes about six weeks to get a passport.
Applying for a passport for a child.To submit an application for a passport for a child under 14 both parents or the child’s legal guardian (s) must appear and present the following. Þ Evidence of the child’s U.S. Citizenship Þ Evidence of the child’s relationship to parents/guardian(s) Þ Parental identification If only one parent appears you must also submit one of the followingÞ Second parent’s notarized written statement consenting to passport application for the child Þ Primary evidence of sole authority to apply, or Þ A written statement (made under penalty of perjury) explaining the second parent’s unavailability.
